Lois Anne Turnbull, age 80, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell. She was born in Waltham, April 13, 1934, the daughter of the late Dean and Amelia (Watson) Turnbull. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Raytheon Corporation in Waltham. A resident of Billerica for most of her life, she enjoyed singing in the First Congregational Church Choir, where she was a secretary and an active member. She was also a member of the Turnbull Clan Association and the Rainbow Girls. She is survived by her two sisters, Helen Divoll and her husband, John, of Royalston, MA and Alice Foy, of Montville, Maine, her two brothers, Lee Turnbull, of Merrimack, NH and Donald Turnbull and his wife Sandra, of Thorndyke, Maine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edith Mary Turnbull and the late Dean T. Turnbull.

Lois A.Turnbull, My dear sister, Lois, about 7PM on Sunday, January 4th, 2015, passed away. There are , in our life, many who love us;.Mothers & Fathers, Sisters & Brothers, Aunts & Uncles, Wives & Husbands, Children & Grandchildren, Fellow workers & acquaintances. Some just barely love us and some without reservation.. Some are known as "Caregivers", those who provide their time, resources, comfort and love. Lois was known as a 'Caregiver". Then there are those who sacrifice. Lois was a "Sacrificer". She gave up her occupation, time, finances and future to care for my father, Mother and Sister Edith. She was always ready and willing to give up her desires, resources and time for anyone who requested them. Quite often, even when not asked. In her later days, when her caregiving days were past, her body succumbed to degradation and lately was in need of "Caregivers".

In Ecclesiastics there is a passage explaining those inevitable degradations that come with age; such as losing your teeth, dim vision, fear of sudden noises, fear of height, etc. Solomon who received wisdom from the LORD said that all this life is meaningless, empty and vain, (that is without God). In Ephesians, Paul, who was confronted by the LORD, says that it is grace that saves you from sin, not anything you have done. It is a gift from God, not your works. He goes on to say that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works He has planned in advance for us.

Some of us have few works assigned to us and some have loads. I know that Lois believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and must have been assigned a lot of good works which she fulfilled a good portion of. Let us, in memory of Lois and with faith in Jesus, complete our assignments, willingly! Praise God! Lois is, deservedly, in peace and at rest now. With love from your loving brother.
